When I started yoga, I wasn’t chasing a transformation. I was already strong. But years of lifting and sports training left my body tight, stiff, and beat up. I figured yoga might loosen me up a little. That was my original plan.
But what happened was bigger than that, and it took me a while to understand it. My body felt … different. It moved differently. It responded to stressors differently. Years of lifting and sports training took a toll on my body, my injuries were proof. My body struggled to hold up under everything I asked from it. I looked good in front of a mirror, sure. But my body ached. Gaps in my training regimen took a toll on my physical health.
