Enjoy the taste of America’s favorite special sauce right at home. You’ll be…lovin’ it.
I absolutely LOVE Big Mac sauce. Who doesn’t? The only problem is that I also like to eat healthy, and, as we know, fast food is not good for you. But this homemade Big Mac sauce gives you the satisfaction of indulgence without the side of guilt.
One huge—and maybe personal—victory with this Big Mac sauce recipe, is that it doesn’t involve ketchup! I don’t particularly appreciate that condiment and hate when people tell me that Big Mac sauce is Thousand Island dressing and ketchup mixed together. Because it is not, and now we have all the proof. In 2012, McDonald’s executive chef released the recipe publicly, and it is exactly what you see here. Even better—in 2018, McDonald’s removed the artificial flavors and preservatives, but somehow kept the flavor.
Big Mac sauce is delicious. It is savory, tangy, and creamy, with a hint of sweetness. Made with mayo, relish, minced onion, vinegar, sugar, and spices, it is a little dance of flavors. We all know that homemade sauce is superior to anything you can get at a drive-thru window. Another perk is this Big Mac sauce is so easy and requires ingredients that you likely already have in your home.
Is Big Mac Sauce Healthy?
This Big Mac sauce uses simple ingredients, which is healthier than the preservative-laden original recipe. In moderation, Big Mac sauce should be fine for many diets. You can adjust the recipe to make it vegan, too; simply use vegan mayo.
