Movember 2026 · Men’s Wellbeing
Men are often encouraged to keep going, push through discomfort and handle things on their own. But what if looking after yourself starts with doing less, not more? This Movember, consider how creating space to pause can become part of a more balanced approach to wellbeing.
01 — The Invitation
Strength Can Look Like Slowing Down
Movember is a reminder that men’s health deserves more than a passing conversation. The annual movement raises awareness and funds for men’s health, with a focus on mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer.
Yet conversations about wellbeing can still feel difficult to start. For some men, asking for support may feel unfamiliar. Others may be so accustomed to managing responsibilities, meeting expectations and staying productive that they rarely make time to check in with themselves.
The invitation this November is simple: make room for the conversation, and make room for yourself.
Strength does not always mean pushing harder. Sometimes, it means recognising when you need to pause, being honest about how you are feeling and allowing yourself to receive support.
02 — Arrive As You Are
Making Space on the Mat
Yoga offers one way to create that space.
You do not need to be flexible, experienced or particularly interested in the physical side of yoga to begin. A class can simply be an opportunity to step away from the usual demands of the day, pay attention to your breathing and notice how you feel.
No flexibility needed
Move within your own capacity.
Nothing to prove
There is no need to perform.
Your own pace
Take things as slowly as you need.
There is no need to perform or prove anything. You can arrive as you are, move within your own capacity and give yourself permission to take things at your own pace.
For men who are more familiar with high-intensity exercise, competition or constant activity, a slower practice may offer a different experience. Instead of measuring progress by how much you can do, you can explore what it feels like to stay present without needing to achieve something.
03 — The Practice
Why Yin + Sound?
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga invites you to settle into supported, longer-held postures, working at a pace that encourages patience and awareness. Rather than moving quickly from one shape to another, the practice creates opportunities to become more attentive to your body and your experience in the moment.
Live Sound
Live sound adds another dimension. The sounds and vibrations of instruments create an atmosphere that can help you direct your attention away from everyday distractions and towards the experience of being present.
Together, Yin and live sound offer a quieter alternative to the usual demands of the day. There is no choreography to master and no expectation to get everything right. You can focus on your own experience and allow the practice to unfold at a pace that feels appropriate for you.
You do not have to arrive feeling calm.
You do not have to leave with every answer.
Sometimes, simply giving yourself time away from the noise is a worthwhile place to start.
04 — Community
You Do Not Have to Do It Alone
A practice on the mat can be a personal experience, but wellbeing is not something you need to navigate in isolation.
Movember creates an opportunity to check in with the men in your life, have conversations that might otherwise go unspoken and encourage one another to seek support when it is needed.
That support can take many forms:
- →Speaking with a trusted friend
- →Reaching out to a health professional
- →Joining a community
- →Making time for an activity that helps you reconnect with yourself
Yoga can be one part of that wider picture. It is not a substitute for professional mental health care, but it can provide a regular opportunity to pause, reflect and develop greater awareness of your own needs.
If someone you know has been carrying a lot lately, a simple invitation to join you for a class or spend some time together can also be a meaningful way to reach out.

05 — Join Us
Make Time to Pause This Movember
At Power Living, practice extends beyond the physical shapes we make on the mat. It is also about how we relate to ourselves, how we show up for others and the choices we make when life becomes demanding.
This November, consider making time for a different kind of practice: one that asks you to slow down rather than push harder.
Our Yin + Live Sound sessions at Neutral Bay offer an opportunity to experience this slower approach, combining Yin Yoga with live sound in a shared studio setting.

You do not need to wait until you feel overwhelmed to make space for yourself. You can start with one class, one conversation or one small decision to check in with how you are doing.
This Movember, let the practice be a reminder that looking after yourself is not something you need to earn.
It is part of showing up for your life.
