These sweet, fresh Peach Muffins are the perfect summery breakfast and can be enjoyed on the go or as a dessert.

For me, and many others, peaches are synonymous with the US state of Georgia. Driving to Florida from New York, through Georgia, you pass Peach World along I-95. They have peach everything! Peach and amaretto butter, peach jam, peach whiskey, a peach subscription… you name it. However, they don’t have peach muffins. This would have been great because those other items don’t travel well as a car snack. Anyway, last year in March, I went to Peach World and found out that the 130 million pounds of peaches that come from Georgia peak between May and August. Also, in 2023 farmers in the state lost 90% of their crop because of the frigid weather. For these reasons, I have more respect for the fresh peaches used in this peach muffin recipe.
Aside from Georgia, peaches definitely remind me of summer (and now that I know when peach season is, that makes sense). But they have a summer taste, like a sunny sweetness with a bit of a tang, and they are so juicy and refreshing. These peach muffins call for fresh peaches, so you get that summertime taste in each bite.
You will love these because we use a basic muffin recipe but add in a unique fruit you don’t see every day mixed up in that muffin mixture. I know we don’t love turning the oven on in the summer, but do you ever find it cold in your home because of the AC? Like right now, my kids and I played in the pool, now they are napping and it is freezing in here. I’m about to make these muffins and they will be ready for dessert after dinner and fresh enough to grab in the morning before we head out.
Are Peach Muffins Healthy?
What I find “healthy” about peach muffins is portion control, if you have the self-control to enjoy just one or two. Sure they have sugar and butter, but they also contain eggs and fresh peaches. So if you are going to indulge in something sweet, a homemade peach muffin is an excellent choice.
How To Give Your Muffin A Healthy Boost
I love this recipe as is. It is perfectly moist and flavorful. However, there are some ways to make it a bit healthier so you don’t feel like you are enjoying a cupcake first thing in the morning (and there is nothing wrong with that).
Use whole wheat flour for a healthier texture and flavor, and more fiber. You can also substitute the AP flour for gluten-free flour to make gluten-free peach muffins.
To make the muffins vegan, substitute the following:
Use almond milk in place of cow milk
Coconut oil, in place of butter
Chia or flax seeds, in place of eggs
For peach muffins with less sugar, use a half cup of honey or substitute with coconut sugar.

FAQs & Tips
Store peach muffins in an air-tight container for 2 to 3 days at room temperature or up to 5 days in the refrigerator. I recommend baking your muffins no more than a day or two ahead if needed.
Yes, you can use canned peaches, but drain them, give a good rinse, and pat dry. They may have a different consistency since canned peaches are cooked, but I have tried it this way, and they are still tasty!
I do peel the peaches, which can be tricky when they are so juicy. However, you can leave the skin on. These are your muffins, so whatever you prefer.
Serving Suggestions
I love serving these peach muffins for brunch. I make them the night before to free up some time in the morning and serve them with Classic Southern Deviled Eggs, mouthwatering Spinach Bacon Quiche (both can also be made the night before), or this colorful Vegetable Frittata. Keep the Southern charm theme with refreshing cocktails like a simple Peach Martini with Raspberry or classic Alabama Slammer.
