You cannot avoid the lessons you are here to learn through the experiences that facilitate those lessons. Wealth and power, lies, cleverness, deceit and avoidance won’t insulate you from what’s coming! It doesn’t matter what you do it’s coming for you! What’s coming? Who you are, that’s what’s coming. Call it karma. You could even call it bad luck or for that matter, good luck, as karma and luck work both ways.
If we believe that what goes around comes around or for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction or what goes up must come down or birds of a feather flock together or karma or even the biblical golden rule. It’s been said many ways and although I’m not sure it’s provable (maybe quantum physics can) the idea stems from one’s experience. Humans have learned this not through a microscope (as of yet) but through experience.
This law of attraction be it arbitrary or by design affects everything. Rest assured nobody escapes life unchallenged (so don’t let their social media account fool you). Knowing this envy is ignorance and ridiculous as you have no idea another’s experience. Most likely you would never trade your life for another’s if you could know their unseen suffering! Show me a person that hasn’t suffered? Show me person who hasn’t lost, cried, hurt, angered or been challenged. You can’t insulate yourself from being a human or conquer these experiences and the more you try the greater the suffering. Just as a life of leisure leaves one soft and unprepared for challenge. There’s another old saying “only the strong survive”. It’s to our challenges that we become strong!
So what can we do to not exaggerate and compound our difficulties making things more challenging than they need to be? What can we do to not allow these difficulties to poison us and create unnecessary stress and suffering? We can surrender and trust! I will say it again “we can surrender and trust”! It does not matter whether you believe that life is arbitrary and a great chaos or you believe that there is a great law, truth, knowledge or God. One cannot deny that worry and fear will poison you and increase your stress and surrender and trust will increase your peace. And one cannot deny that a challenge embraced is an opportunity and opportunities make one’s life dynamic and interesting.
Intelligence, money, fame, title, beauty, prowess, daring, cleverness or power will not help you avoid the challenges set on your path that provide you the experiences needed to learn grow and become all that you become. In other words, you can’t avoid your karma. Try as many do to cushion themselves from life’s harsh realities with luxuries or distract themselves with consumerism or media, what you got coming to you is coming. Yet it is opportunity. Just as you cannot strengthen a muscle without challenging it this is how we evolve.
So follow your passion and acquire whatever it is you’d like to acquire give yourself the best chance of being fulfilled but don’t fool yourself into thinking this will make life easy. Easy makes you weak and you are here to become strong so face your challenges with a knowing that they are simply opportunities to become stronger and wiser more creative and insightful as you continue to evolve and become all that you are becoming. On the flip side experience your blessings and all that you’ve acquired being grateful for these sweet moments of calmness in-between the storms.
So be supple of body and flexible of mind so you can bend without breaking. Be tone of body to carry yourself through and strong of mind to see yourself through. These are the reminders and the practice of Power Yoga.
sincerely, bryan
