This Shrimp Marinade is simple, flavorful, and versatile, perfect for grilling, sautéing, or baking your shrimp to delicious perfection!

No matter how you choose to cook it, shrimp is amazing. It’s great as an appetizer but can easily become a main dish, too. You can fry it, grill it, air fry it, sauté it, or cook it some other way. It’s as versatile as it is delicious. But no matter how good shrimp is, there is always room for improvement. That’s why I wanted to share this tasty recipe for a marinade that will enhance the flavor of shrimp for every cooking method.
Despite having a lot of different ingredients, this marinade is easy to make and can be prepared in just a few minutes. It’s mostly made up of items you probably already have in your kitchen, like honey, lemon juice, paprika, and oregano. When all of those ingredients are combined in perfect balance with one another, the result is a bold and zesty marinade that packs a punch and makes a normal batch of shrimp something special.

Is Shrimp Marinade Healthy?
While it’s difficult to call the shrimp marinade itself healthy (it is a little high in sodium), the shrimp you use it with is rich in protein and antioxidants. That said, the marinade uses honey instead of refined sugar, and by making it yourself you can control the quality of the ingredients that go into it.
Whisk, Coat, and Save
For such a simple recipe, the most important step is making sure you thoroughly whisk the marinade. With so many ingredients, it’s important that they are all well-blended so no single ingredient sticks out. The next key is making sure the shrimp gets coated evenly so that every inch of shrimp is covered with the marinade. Finally, I recommend separating some of the marinade before it’s mixed with the shrimp and setting it aside. Once the shrimp has been cooked, you can use the extra marinade you reserved as a finishing sauce to enhance the flavor profile even more.

FAQs & Tips
This marinade can be made up to 3 days in advance if it’s stored in the fridge in an airtight container. This doesn’t include the shrimp, however, which should only be marinated right before it’s cooked.
Shrimp should be covered in the marinade for at least 30 minutes but can be left to marinate for up to 8 hours.
Absolutely! While this marinade is designed to complement shrimp, it also works beautifully with other seafood like scallops, salmon, or white fish. Keep in mind that more delicate fish may not need as long to marinate—30 minutes to an hour is usually enough to infuse flavor without overpowering the natural taste of the fish.
