French toast that comes out crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, thanks to the air fryer.
For as long as I’ve been old enough to prepare my own breakfast, I’ve been making French toast. It’s simple to prepare and only requires a few ingredients. It’s only recently that I discovered that I can use an air fryer to cook French toast and still get amazing results. That’s why I felt compelled to share this recipe with my fellow French toast lovers.
The biggest difference between cooking French toast in an air fryer and using more conventional methods is that the air fryer leaves the edges of the bread crisp and crunchy. This isn’t always easy to achieve when cooking on a skillet, at least not without burning the French toast a little. At the same time, the center of each slice is still soft and fluffy.
Is Air Fryer French Toast Healthy?
Most meals prepared in an air fryer are a little healthier than conventional methods because it reduces the amount of oil needed. Surprisingly, this recipe only has 176 calories and 8 grams of fat per serving. Also, there are just 6 grams of sugar and 18 grams of carbs per serving, which are tolerable amounts for most diets. Don’t forget that the eggs help to provide a little bit of protein. Plus, if you add fresh fruit on top of your French toast, you’ll add some extra vitamins and minerals as well.
Keep It Fluffy
Even if the outside of each slice comes out crispy, you can still get fluffy French toast in an air fryer. To ensure this happens, make sure the egg mixture is thick and not too runny. You should also allow each slice of bread to sit in the mixture for 30 to 60 seconds to ensure the bread soaks up enough of the egg mixture. Additionally, make sure there are no overlapping pieces of bread once it’s all in the air fryer. This is the only way to ensure that every piece cooks evenly and ends up crispy on the outside but soft in the middle.

FAQs & Tips
Leftover pieces of French toast should cool before being wrapped tightly or being stored in an airtight container. In the fridge, they’ll remain good for 3 or 4 days and can be reheated in an air fryer or toaster oven for 2 or 3 minutes.
The most likely reason is that the air fryer was overcrowded. If necessary, cook in batches so that no two pieces of French toast are touching one another in the air fryer.
This is based on your personal preferences. However, bananas are usually a good option, as are any type of berry, including strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries.
