“Just peachy!” For brunch, dinner, or dessert.
When summer’s in full swing, this dessert gets a spotlight! As a healthy, yummy, and easy dish that only takes 15 minutes to make, it’s an easy win at cookouts. It’s especially handy to make when you have extra ripe peaches that need to get used, so keep this handy for the summer, when they’re in season.
To enhance your grilled peaches, play with the seasonings. While cinnamon is an excellent base to start with, I’d recommend adding 1/2 teaspoon each of cardamom, ginger, and nutmeg as well. This warm spice combo is similar to that of fruit pies. I also recommend trying melted coconut oil instead of olive oil, if you want an extra-sweet flavor that matches the smoky-sweet peach nicely.
Are Grilled Peaches Healthy?
Grilled peaches are ideal for many different kinds of diets: gluten-free, vegetarian, and dairy-free. Not to mention, honey is a natural sweetener rich in antioxidants and is better for digestion than cane sugar. Since this recipe is simply seasoned peaches, which are full of fiber and vitamin C, it’s a healthy alternative to something heavier like pie or cobbler. For this reason, it also makes a great breakfast or brunch side. Keep scrolling for some scrumptious serving suggestions!
How to Pick the Best Peaches…
There are two kinds of peaches – freestone or clingstone. While freestone pits are easily removed, clingstone pits are not; however, they are much softer and sweeter. For simplicity’s sake, I recommend getting freestone peaches so that they maintain their structure while grilling. Ideally, we want the peaches ripe but firm so they don’t turn to mush. If they have a little give when you squeeze them gently, you’re in the good zone. If they bruise easily, you might consider using them in a cobbler, pie, or jam.

FAQs & Tips
While this recipe is best enjoyed fresh, you can prepare some toppings (like toasted nuts) in advance and store them each in their own container.
Once grilled, leftover peaches can be stored in a fridge-safe container for up to 4 days. You can reheat them in the oven at 350 degrees F until they start to lightly sizzle, or pop them in the microwave for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Although grilling peaches does caramelize them, I recommend using the ripe-but-firm kind we talked about earlier. This provides the greatest sweetness and luscious texture, ensuring the peaches aren’t sour, bitter, or tough.
Note: If you don’t have a grill, you can try broiling them in the oven for about 5 minutes on each side; this will crisp them up in a similar way to grilling, without the smoky flavor.
The easiest way to pit a peach is by cutting it in half vertically and scooping the pit out with a spoon or by hand. Peach pits can then be thrown out or composted, depending on your situation or preference. Make sure to grill both sides of the peach halves for thorough cooking.
Serving Suggestions
These peaches go great with a dollop of Cottage Cheese Ice Cream, but they also shine bright with a drizzle of Homemade Nut Butter.
My personal favorite topping for these plush peaches is a brunchy combo of Cinnamon Granola and plant-based yogurt. You can’t go wrong here.
For a more savory option, grilled peaches make a nice side for a main dish of Honey Garlic Chicken with Coconut Crust. Make your meal as sweet, salty, or spicy as you’d like!
