This sweet and creamy Oreo Milkshake only requires three simple ingredients!
This decadent delight reminds me of Halloween and slumber parties, mainly because my mom refused to buy Oreos. So whenever I had them, it was usually during a sleepover at a friend’s house or during the Halloween season. The creamy inside shifted from white to orange and showed up at just about every school party or gathering.
What’s great about this milkshake is not only its ease of preparation but also its versatility. With two simple ingredients as the base, you can swap out your cookies for just about anything to create the shake of your dreams.
Are Oreo Milkshakes Healthy?
Not really. The sugar used in this has about zero nutritional value. But with that said, I love creating healthy alternatives when cooking and baking, and this is a great recipe to do just that.
Start with a homemade almond or cashew milk in place of the milk. You can also purchase a naturally sweetened, vegan ice cream that is dairy free. I recommend Oatly’s vanilla ice cream or Cosmic Bliss’s Madagascan Vanilla Bean. So Delicious also makes an amazing Coconut Milk Vanilla Bean ice cream sweetened with monk fruit extract and stevia. Greek yogurt or frozen yogurt (almost like a soft serve) works as well.
Now for the cookie part. Trader Joe’s makes a delicious gluten-free version of Oreos called Joe-Joe’s. It’s slightly better for you and has a chocolate cookie crust with a vanilla creme filling. If you’re going the vegan route, I suggest adding a splash of vanilla extract and a scoop (about a tablespoon) of coconut cream. Just like that, you have a more health conscious version of this fan favorite milkshake.
3 Ingredient Milkshake Variations
This super easy and delicious milkshake can be made several different ways, still with just 3 ingredients! Keep your vegan vanilla ice cream and almond milk or coconut cream, and replace the cookies with frozen strawberries for a berry shake. Or replace the cookies with a handful of fresh mint for a minty shake. Chunks of dark chocolate or pomegranate seeds also make a great cookie replacement. Or one of my personal favorites: swap your Oreos for a nut butter of some sort. While you’re at it, replace some (or all) of the milk with espresso for a delightful coffee and cream dream team.

FAQs & Tips
Combine ice cream, milk, and Oreos in a blender and blend until smooth. Store your milkshake in jars, individually portioned and covered, in the freezer for up to 1 month. To serve again, thaw in the refrigerator for a few hours or on the counter for 30 minutes before serving. But I will note that these milkshakes are best consumed immediately!
Spread some melted chocolate or chocolate syrup across the edges of your serving glass. You can also sprinkle the top of your milkshake with cookie crumbles. For the garnish, crush 1 or 2 cookies by placing them in a zip-lock plastic bag and pounding them a few times with a rolling pin until they crumble. Or combine both and rim your glass with Oreo cookies. Crush them after removing the filling and dip the glass first in the chocolate, then in the crushed cookies.
Store-bought ice cream works great here; however, nothing beats homemade. Try whipping up homemade vanilla ice cream for an even better taste. If homemade ice cream is a bit too much, then go homemade with the whipped cream.
Serving Suggestions
Enjoy this classic American frosty treat with cookie crumble garnishes, a dollop of homemade whipped cream topped with a maraschino cherry, and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Yummy! I will also note that this dessert is best sipped through a thick straw.
