The easiest, sweetest tater you’ll ever make…

Talk about “simple and sweet”… this recipe fits the bill!
In just 40 minutes, you can have a succulent, steamy baked sweet potato that makes a great side, snack, or even dessert. All you do is prep the potatoes, season them, then stick them in the air fryer at 390 degrees F for about 35 minutes or until they become golden brown and crispy. And that’s the thing… some people remove the skins, but in my opinion, they’re the best part! Not only are they full of flavor, they’re also where most of the nutrients reside (see below) so you’ll be satisfying your sweet tooth while feeding your nutrition needs.
With such a wholesome, fluffy, and tender side dish that can go with nearly any main… What’s not to love?
Is Baked Sweet Potato in The Air Fryer Healthy?
Overall, air frying is considered a healthier alternative to pan frying, and can be quicker and more thorough than oven baking. This, plus the fact that sweet potatoes are a vitamin-rich superfood, makes this recipe simple but powerful. Sweet potatoes are full of carbohydrates, vitamin A, beta carotene, and vitamin C; all of which support energy levels and immune system function. Using a healthy oil like olive or avocado makes this recipe 100% solid. Plus – it’s free of gluten, sugar, dairy, and meat! An easy win.
One of the Greatest Inventions of All Time…
The air fryer was first invented in the Netherlands by Fred van der Weij, who took three years to develop the prototype. Produced by the company Philips, it was introduced in 2010 to IFA Berlin – a popular consumer electronics fair – and the rest is history. Today, you can find air fryers all over the world, enhancing the ease in people’s kitchens no matter what their culinary culture is. Not only did this invention save us time and energy; it also saves us calories! Using an air fryer means much less oil, and a lot more thorough cook-through. If you don’t have an air fryer already, I highly recommend getting one; it’s a great investment for your kitchen collection!

FAQs & Tips
Leftovers can be easily stored in the fridge for up to 1 week. Of course, I recommend eating them fresh, but who doesn’t love leftovers? When ready to reheat, simply pop them in the oven at 350 degrees F for 10-15 minutes, or until their golden brown skin starts to sizzle. Alternatively, you can eat them cold, right out of the fridge for a cool all-natural dessert!
Is there a difference? Absolutely. Sweet potatoes are darker, more nutrient-dense and sweeter; while yams are lighter in color and starchy like a normal potato. Don’t feel bad if you get them confused though; I’ve even come across grocery stores that mislabel the two, so it’s no big deal.
One of my favorite parts of this recipe is that, unlike a regular oven, the air fryer allows for more air circulation and even cooking. This means you don’t need to wrap your potatoes in foil; they can go in naked! And they come out perfect, every time.
Serving Suggestions
This recipe serves two, but feel free to make more depending on your dinner table’s needs. Speaking of, these taters make a great side to Chocolate Chili: creating a fun, dessert-for-dinner kind of meal that kids will especially enjoy.
I also recommend trying these bad boys out for breakfast, topped with a fried egg and slices of avocado, with a side of Breakfast Quinoa.
Whether you go meat-filled or plant-based, these taters are so versatile, you’ll be satisfied no matter what!
