Noodles make everything better, especially cooked cabbage! Simply seasoned, this dish shows that sometimes less is more!

I was raised on buttered noodles. As a kid, I thought they were a treat that Mom made. Now I know they were a go-to when the groceries ran low. I still love them to this day. Whenever I make cabbage for another meal, I set some aside for the next day so I can have a bowl of buttered noodles with the leftover cabbage.
You’ll enjoy how easy this recipe is to put together, but you will enjoy the flavors even more. Cooked cabbage is incredibly sweet. Now, couple that with onions sautéed in butter, add a bowl of comforting noodles, and what you have is a palate-pleasing dish of comfort food.
Are Cabbage and Noodles Healthy?
Cabbage and noodles may not be the meal that springs to mind when thinking about healthy eating, but this recipe offers a wealth of nutrients. Cabbage is low in calories and high in fiber. Additionally, it boasts large amounts of vitamins C and K, and it’s also rich in antioxidants.
Of course, some diets won’t do well with cabbage and noodles without making some alterations. For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free noodles. You can also sauté the onions in olive oil for dairy-free cabbage and noodles.

FAQs & Tips
Cabbage and noodles don’t require special storage. They can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. They reheat nicely in the oven. Put the cabbage and noodles in an oven-safe dish greased with butter. Cover the dish with foil and heat at 350° Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes or until warm. The additional butter will add enough moisture to the reheated noodles.
More veggies are always a good thing. With a simple dish like cabbage and noodles, it’s easy to create variations. Feel free to add carrots, celery, or whatever veggies you prefer. The goal is to keep it uncomplicated and have a quick and healthy meal.
You may cook your cabbage however you prefer. Many people like boiled cabbage since it becomes incredibly tender when boiled. The sautéing method yields a tender cabbage with a little bit of crunch. You can sauté it longer if you prefer it softer. You can also boil the cabbage and add it to the mix once it is cooked and drained.

Serving Suggestions
Serving cabbage and noodles on its own is great, but sometimes I sprinkle a little parmesan on top of mine as well. You may also like to pair cabbage and noodles with a light salad, such as this refreshing Meditteranean cucumber salad or keto broccoli salad. Moreover, this dish makes a hearty side when served with baked pork chops or beef brisket.
