A couple of months ago we decided to start having student spotlights each month for Ahimsa. The reason we wanted to do it was because our students have really cool stories and we thought you’d like to get to know someone a bit more! The students we chose are in love with yoga at Ahimsa for their own individual reasons, and we love hearing their stories. We hope you do, too.
All of our student spotlights can be found here: http://ahimsayogastudios.com/student-spotlights/ so please check them out and comment on them with your thoughts!

Preview from Adam Cowger’s Interview:
What do you do when you are off the mat?
I’m a music professor at Joliet Junior College, husband and soon to be daddy! I live in Villa Park with my lovely wife Jess and dog Django. I also enjoy playing drums in a band called The Chicago Experience.

Tell us something unusual about yourself.
I graduated as a dentist (but not in this country), but when I moved here I was unable to continue to practice here, and became a dental assistant instead. I learned that “in life, sometimes you lose something, but you are still able to be a winner!” This is how I feel with my career…I’m still a winner for coming to America!
Also, I am a colon cancer survivor and feeling strong with all the yoga classes I’m taking at the studio!

What do you do when you are off the mat?
I bowl in a league from Fall to Spring. In the summer I golf. My favorite place is in my gardens, hard work but rewarding. I am very active in my church. Do a low impact aerobic class 3x a week. Oh and snowmobile in the winter.
