Ingredients Needed
This happens to be one of those recipes that has a very short and sweet list of ingredients. All the flavor is in the peanuts and the instant pot brings them out perfectly! Here’s everything you will need to make your own batch of boiled peanuts in the instant pot:
- Raw peanuts in the shell (green peanuts)
- Water
- Salt
- Liquid Smoke (optional)

How to make Instant Pot Boiled Peanuts
Stir
Add the peanuts and water to your instant pot. Add in the liquid smoke and salt, stirring to combine.
Cook
Cover the instant pot, set it to sealing, and cook until the peanuts are done. Let the steam release naturally, then drain.
Enjoy
Cool off the peanuts as much as you’d like, then serve and DEVOUR!
Boiled Peanut Recipe Instant Pot Storage
Finished boiled peanuts can be stored at room temperature, right on the counter or in the pantry where they are easily accessible for a snack! I recommend storing them in an airtight container for 1-3 days. If you want them to last longer, you can store them in a container in the fridge for up to 10 days.

Instant Pot Boiled Peanuts FAQ
It’s up to you, but I don’t usually eat the shell on boiled peanuts. They can be eaten along with the peanut, or discarded.
This comes down to personal preference. I find boiled peanuts delicious right out of the instant pot (after they have cooled slightly), but they can also be enjoyed cold or at room temperature.
Some recipes suggest that you soak the raw peanuts before boiling them. For this instant pot recipe, however, no soaking is needed!
Often, I encourage playing with and tweaking my recipes to suit your needs and the needs of your crew. However, for this recipe, you can only use raw green peanuts. Roasted peanuts will not turn out the same.
Unfortunately, you can definitely overcook boiled peanuts. Overcooked boiled peanuts tend to turn out mushy, so be sure to follow the instructions carefully and not cook them longer than recommended in your instant pot.
Your boiled peanuts will be done when the shells are nice and soft and the peanuts are also soft, but not mushy.
