The Program Overview. The 500-hour yoga teacher training course essentially combines the 200 and 300-hour programs over a continuous period of study. Whether you complete the two courses in one swoop or take a break, you will ultimately complete a total of 500 hours upon completion.
A 500-hour RYT will have completed both courses at a Registered Yoga School (RYS), as well as acquiring over 100 hours of hands-on experience teaching yoga classes.
Course Content
The course content follows that which we outlined for the 200-hour yoga teacher training and 300-hour yoga teacher training. However, as the 500-hour yoga teacher training is completed in one go, the format will vary depending on the school.

Requirements
Committing to 500 hours of yoga teacher training is a huge commitment. Although it’s not mandatory, as a prospective student you might feel more confident after working a regular yoga practice into your flow.
Duration
The duration it takes to complete your 500-hour YTT can vary from 2 months until over 1 year. The swiftest way to get qualified is to study on a full-time basis at a school or retreat. This can take 2 months at the minimum, however many courses are longer.
If you are not able to commit to full-time study, you can complete your 500-hour training part-time at a local school. The duration will depend on your school and your own availability, but you can expect it to take between 6 and 12 months on average.
Alternatively, you can study your 500-hour teacher training online at your own pace. This can be tailored to suit your own schedule, needs and availability.
Course Fees
As with the 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher training courses, the cost of the 500-hour teacher training will depend on where and how you study.
To study your 500-hour YTT at a retreat, you can find courses starting at $2,000 in India. A luxury option could cost around $6,000. As usual, a Registered Yoga School (RYT) accredited by the Yoga Alliance is likely to charge higher rates.
Studying your self-paced 500-hour yoga teacher training online will start at around $1,500.
If you complete your course online before 30 June 2020, you will be able to register with Yoga Alliance as a registered yoga teacher.
