Yes, let’s talk about the inevitable-
Change.
Change is inevitable, the only reliable constant in life. It’s the one thing that we can be very sure will always come for us, even when we might not want it to.
Well, here is a not so new adaggio to remember when you feel the winds of change blowing your way- embrace it! You may choose to resist, and there isn’t anything wrong with that, but know that fighting the one thing that is always bound to happen is a battle bound to be lost. So you may as well be rooting for the winning team, if you know what I mean…
Now, what is it about change that scares us so much? Why do we seek to make eternal that which is, always has been, and always will be fleeting? Perhaps it is how we were created- born out of the very denial of the mortality of matter. As humans, we have sought to make ourselves everlasting since what seems like the beginning of time.
Am I implying that we must stop this? Not entirely. But merely to look at the parts of us that may be holding on too tightly to things which life, if given the chance, would naturally make change for the better.
Growth is an organic process which relies upon a balance between holding on and letting go. But having become experts at holding on, the emphasis for humanity need best be put at letting go.
Everything is subject to change, and this is also how things stay the same.
Have you ever noticed that it is through the leaves falling from the trees and being let go of every year, that autumn comes back similarly to the year before? When we let nature (in other words the inevitable change) have its way with us, we are also restored into our most authentic essence which is ironically eternal.
We think change to be the death of us, but isn’t it the very essence of life itself?
So lean back, relax and let it happen…
Much love,
Antonia
